Why your recording sounds noisy
Most "bad audio" isn't your voice — it's everything around it. Cheap and built-in mics pick up a constant floor of sound: the whir of a fan, HVAC rumble, electrical hiss, traffic through a window. Your ears tune it out live, but the mic doesn't, and once it's baked into the recording it sits under every word. That steady, unchanging noise is exactly the kind a denoiser can strip out cleanly.

What you need

Step 1 — Open your clip in the editor
Record your screen and camera at /record, then send it to the editor, or open an existing project at /edit. On the timeline, find the clip whose audio you want to clean. Each clip shows as a card — that card is where the audio tools live.
Step 2 — Click the 🎙 Clean Audio button
On the clip card, click the microphone icon labeled Clean Audio. A modal opens and the track is sent for cleanup. Behind the scenes three things happen in order:
- High-pass filter — cuts the low rumble and hum under your voice (that "room" heaviness).
- FFT denoise — analyzes the constant noise fingerprint (fan, hiss, HVAC) and subtracts it while leaving speech intact.
- Normalize — evens out the overall level so your voice sits at a consistent, healthy volume.
When it finishes, the cleaned track drops into your editor in place. Play it back and compare — the hiss and hum should be gone, and your voice should sit forward and clear.
Step 3 — Keep it or undo it
If you like it, keep going — cut, add captions, drop in music. If you'd rather keep the raw sound, undo in one step and you're back to the original. Nothing about the cleanup is permanent until you export.
Step 4 — Stack it with the other audio tools
